Abstract
This paper presents a systematic preliminary design of an inland passenger vessel for the Meuse River, focusing on energy-efficient solutions and regulatory compliance. An electric propulsion system was chosen to align with zero-emission trends. Vessel dimensions were derived using regression analysis, and general arrangements optimized for passenger comfort. Design iterations included structural calculations, weight estimations, and cost analysis using BV Rules. The hull form was developed with MaxsurfTM for minimal resistance, with CFD calculations via FineMarineTM guiding engine selection. Additional design components include propeller optimization, rudder specification, and electrical balance for battery selection. Stability assessments ensure ES-TRIN rule compliance, offering insights into energy-efficient marine design.
