Abstract

This paper explores tuning methodologies for PD-PI, PI-PD, and 2DOF-3 controllers, assessing their effectiveness in controlling the power of an axial flow turbine first designed by Banu Musa bin Shaker in the 9th century AC. MATLAB optimization toolbox and ITAE performance indices are used to generate unit step time responses for reference and disturbance inputs. The study further improves disturbance rejection through an innovative tuning technique, comparing results with conventional PI controllers.
