Abstract
This research highlights the transformative role of rural electrification beyond mere utilities, examining its impact on socio-economic development and quality of life in India. A qualitative study conducted in two villages in Nashik district reveals that electrification enhances opportunities and decision-making for rural communities. However, disparities exist in access to electricity benefits, prompting a reassessment of government policies. The study advocates for an improved rural electrification framework integrating solar photovoltaics, ensuring equitable access and enhanced capabilities in evolving socio-political contexts.
