An Experimental Development of Fragility Curves & Performance Analysis of Ferro-Concrete Frame under Moderate Loading Conditions- Mr.Imandi Vamsi Kiran, Mr.CH.Bhaskara Rao 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I6P11
Abstract
When earthquake loads are the functions of ground motion intensity or other design parameters, Fragility curves provide the conditional probability of structural response. Seismic fragility curves are used mainly by decision makers for the assessment of seismic losses both for pre-earthquake disaster planning as well as post-earthquake recovery programs. Generation of fragility curves in conventional methods involves development of large number of computational models that represent the inherent variation in the material properties of particular building type and its earthquake time history analyses to obtain an accurate and reliable estimate of the probability of exceedance of the chosen damage parameter. There are many Response surface methods available in the literature that is capable of representing the limit state surface depending on the problem type. High Dimensional Model Representation (HDMR) method is a type of response surface method that can express input-output relations of complex computational models. This input-output relation can reduce the number of iterations of expensive computations especially in problems like fragility curve development. Unnikrishnan et al. (2012) applied this technique in fragility evaluation for the first time and demonstrated its computational efficiency compared to computationally intensive Monte Carlo method. In this study, fragility curve of an RC frame is developed using HDMR response surface method. There are also other simplified approaches which are computationally easy for fragility curve development. Cornell et.al. (2002) proposed such a simplified method which assumes a power law model between the damage parameter and intensity measure of earthquake. This study presents Fragility curves evaluated using HDMR and its computational efficiency with reference to the one using the method suggested by Cornell et al (2002). Experimental Analysis of Steel Slag Concrete under the Influence of Micro Silica and Determination of Strength Characteristics- Mr.Adham Durga Viswanadh, Mr.Ayinala Naga Sai 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I6P12
Abstract
Concrete is the most widely utilizing construction material because it can be designed to withstand the variant environmental conditions while taking on the most inspirational forms. Engineers are continually insisting the limits to improve its performance with the help of adhesive chemical admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials. Nowadays, most concrete mixture contains supplementary agents which forms mix. These materials are commonly byproducts from other processes. The main benefits of these elements are their ability to replace certain amount of cement and still able to display cementitious property, thus reducing the cost of using Portland cement. The fast growth in urbanization outraged in tons and tons of byproduct or waste materials, which can be used as binding agents such as fly ash, silica fume, ground granulated blast furnace slag, steel slag etc. The use of these byproducts not only helps to utilize these waste materials but also enhances the properties of concrete in fresh and hydrated states. Slag cement and fly ash are the two most common binding agents used in concrete. Abstract
As box girders forms one of the suitable and popular choices over the years for the superstructure of bridges a detailed study is carried out in this paper. Span-to-depth ratio is an important bridge design parameter that affects the structural behaviour, construction cost and aesthetics. In this paper a parametric study is carried out between different span to depth models and for each model bending moments and shear force as per IRC 112:2000 will be extracted and compared. Commercially available software Midas-Civil has been used for modelling and to carry out linear analysis of box girder for balanced cantilever bridges. The linear analysis has been carried out for dead load, live load as per IRC 6:2000, Class 70R loading. The obtained results will form a thumb rule and can provide guidance to the bridge designers. Redesigning and Fabrication of Extruder, Z - Axis Drive and Their Structural Supports of 3D Printer- Chaithanya Raam, V. Vikranth Balaji, M.S.Amrish
Abstract
3D Printing is a new and innovative method used to manufacture solid objects. It allows the user to make the complicated 3D shapes using a method of manufacturing where a part is made by adding layer after layer (ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING) of a heated material that cools and solidifies almost instantly. The 3D shapes are initially created on the computer using the solid modelling software. In order to have a high functioning 3D printer, there are many kind of forces that need to be accounted in the design, so that they don’t affect the quality of the produced part. This project report will explain and analyse the problems identified in the existing 3D printer also in addition it will explain how these problems are overcome using the skills in mechanical engineering. Simulation of Voltage Flicker Mitigation by Electric Spring in Wind Generations- Chandrashekar Reddy, S.Saritha , D.Sumalatha 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I6P15
Abstract
Day to day population is increasing in world there by power demand also increasing in order to meet power demand need to depend on renewable energy sources like wind, solar, tidal etc. But these are not constant throughout the time, constant power or voltage is not possible by renewable energy sources. In order to meet power demand and maintain the constant voltage or power in the grid some of the controllers are already being used. To get more reliable power, Electric springs are used in this project. Electric spring is a combination of IIGBT based self commutated voltage source converter with inductor and capacitor. Electric springs are connected to smart loads. Power generated by wind energy system is connected to grid, these smart loads are connected with the help of electric springs, so that voltage flickers are mitigated. The proposed PMSGG and DFIG based wind generation system is simulated using MATLAB/simulink model. TAODV :Modification of AODV protocol using TRUST mechanism for mobile Ad Hoc networks- Deeksha Sohani, Ms. Manju Sachdeo 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I6P19
Abstract
This paper define a new approach for prevention of jamming attack in mobile ad-hoc networks . MANET's are easy prey to be caught by attackers because they are mobile and hence not attached to a fixed location and not exposed to similar threat. MANET is a collection of mobile nodes which can be configured by themselves where each node itself act as a router for other nodes. The idea is to employ a trust mechanism in AODV protocol to prevent jamming attack. AODV protocol originally uses computational logic to provide authentication to newly arrived nodes while trust mechanism uses subjective logic. Trust model represents trust among nodes through a term called “opinion” . “opinion” is a 3 dimensional parameter having dimensions-Trust, Mistrust, Unknown. These parameters describe the authenticity of a node in MANET. The value of “opinion” keep updated during information exchange process. If a node perform normally ,it's authenticity from other node's viewpoint increases otherwise it looses it's trust from other nodes and the malfunctioning node is denied from network. The performance of new protocol is evaluated through analysis and simulation. The proposed protocol should provide better results relative to following parameter-Packet delivery ratio, end -to -end delay, energy and throughput. The results of both AODV and TAODV protocols are compared.
