The spatial multiplexing gain comes from the simultaneous transmission of spatially encoded bits. Analytical and numerical performance of SM in different channel conditions, including practical channel considerations, are studied and compared to existing MIMO techniques in this thesis. Results show that SM achieves low BER (bit error ratio) with a tremendous reduction in receiver complexity without sacrificing spectral efficiency Reference [1] L. Lu, G. Y. Li, A. L.
