River Musi is typical receiving water body for both urban and rural runoff. The river parameters strongly vary seasonally and the water quality deteriorates sharply with municipal and Industrial wastes especially from the Mega City of Hyderabad. Safe water and sanitation are basic human needs. Better water and sanitation are essential in breaking the cycle of poverty. Hence water quality testing is necessary. In this work, samples of water were collected from seven different locations. These samples were collected for four weeks. The water samples of four weeks are tested and monitored for changes in different parameters of water. The parameters which were analyzed are pH, Turbidity, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, BOD, COD, Total Hardness, Chlorides, Total Suspended Solids and Total Dissolved Solids. Over the due course of time various parameters regarding the water quality were analyzed & the Indian Standards: 2296 (Surface water standards) was referred to in order to check the acceptability of water quality. Most of the parameters were not found to be in the desirable range for river water and hence, appropriate measures were suggested to improve the quality of water. Then Bio-Enzyme is added to the water samples in different doses to dilute the pollutants and tested for different parameters like pH, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Alkalinity/ Acidity and BOD. The optimum dosage of bio enzyme is determined. Reference 1 . "American Public Health Association (APHA)," Standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater, 21st ed.
