- Shashank Gupta, Vikram Singh, Abhishek Gupta 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I3P61
Abstract
Self-compacting concrete, also referred to as self-consolidating concrete, is able to flow and consolidate under its own weight. This makes SCC particularly useful wherever placing is difficult, such as in heavily-reinforced concrete members or in complicated work forms. The objective of this research was to check the mechanical properties of self-compacted high strength concrete using steel slag as partial replacement of coarse aggregate. Cube specimen (15x15x15)cm were tested for compressive strength, cylinder specimen (15x30)Cm were tested for tensile strength and beam specimen (50x10x10)cm were tested for flexural strength after 7 days,28 days and 56 days of curing, in order to find out if self-compacting concrete would show an increase in these strength. The mix design used for making self-compacted concrete specimen was based on the previous research work on this topic and from literature. The water cement ratio varied from 0.40 while the cement, fine aggregate and admixture were kept same, expect the coarse aggregate and steel slag were change for obtaining the best result. - Zahid Rasool Bhat, Abhishek Gupta, Girish Sharma 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I3P62
Abstract
Aggregates are the important constituents in concrete. In India, annual outcome of Steel Slag is about 10 Million Tone . The utilization of waste materials from the industries has been continuously emphasized in the research work. The present work is to use steel Slag as partial replacement for coarse aggregate. The M35 concrete with steel slag partial replacement for coarse aggregate are examined in the present study. According to material properties studied are 7days and 28days compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength were found experimentally. The results were compared with conventional concrete property. The results showed that partially replacing about 0%, 15 % , 30 %, 45%, and 60% of steel slag aggregates by weight for natural aggregates From these results of the study we can say that as the percentage of steel slag as replacement is increased (0% to 45%) the strength of concrete increases. After 45% replacement of Coarse aggregate as steel slag slight decrease in strength is observe, but still it is higher than 0% replacement without any adverse effect on the strength of concrete. - Purva S. Puranik, Parikshit N. Mahalle 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I3P63
Abstract
Anything that can be connected to a network qualifies to become a smart object. Exciting use cases and products can be generated by interconnecting these smart objects with the internet. A secure and smart shopping system is one such use case developed using IoT. In a departmental store all items can be connected with each other. This leads to formation of a smart shopping system. In such an IoT system, an inexpensive UHF RFID tag can be attached to each product. On the other hand, each shopping cart can be equipped with an UHF RFID reader. Along with it, the smart cart will also have a microcontroller, an LCD touchscreen, a Zig-Bee adapter, and a weight sensor. The smart cart is able to proactively read the items put into a cart via the UHF RFID reader. A micro controller is installed on the cart for data processing whereas the LCD touchscreen is for the user interface. Zig-Bee technology can be used for communication between the smart cart and server. Weight scanner installed on the smart cart ensures that no malicious customer can buy products without paying for them. At the checkout point, the customer pays using the generated billing information on the smart cart. To ensure that that all the items in the cart have been paid, RFID reader can be used before the exit door. Using cryptographic methods for communication between the server and smart cart, security of data will be guaranteed, as no outside adversary will be able to gain hold of the data transferred. This makes the system confidential and maintains integrity. In addition to this, in order to protect the RFID system from DoS attacks, Gossamer protocol can be implemented which will ensure an even more secure system. Having such a system gives two benefits. Firstly, it prevents customers from waiting in a long queue at checkout. Secondly, by making the product shelves smart inventory management becomes easy and efficient. Implementation of such a smart shopping system and secure shopping system will ensure enhanced shopping experience. - Roopesh R, Kiran Kumar B R, Suman B Patil, S Manjula, Dr. Deepak. G, Harish Kumar.N 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I3P64
Abstract
In the modern era of rapid technological advancements, electronic devices are flooding our homes and offices. The problem one faces is the safe disposal of inoperative electronic items which we call as electronic waste without causing any harm to the environment. Another crucial point is to note is that depositors arent motivated enough to recycle their e-waste. Moreover e-waste collectors are unable to locate source of e-waste. This paper talks about an automated system that can let the depositors dispose their e-waste and in doing so get rewarded for it. As far as collectors of e-waste are concerned, an online bidding session is organized, the winner of which get to claim possession of the electronic waste that he/she won in the online bidding process. An interactive smart bin with various sensors and modules is required for this purpose. The bin must be able to lock and unlock itself upon successful authentication by the user. Abstract
Fuel injection parameters play an important role in diesel engine performance for obtaining proper combustion. The performance and emission characteristics of diesel engine depend on many parameters. This paper aims to present the experimental studies on the performance and emission characteristics of Mahua oil methyl ester (MOME), blends and diesel as a fuel for a single-cylinder direct injection diesel engine. Experiments have been carried out to study the effects of performance characteristics like brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), brake thermal efficiency (BTE), and emissions such as hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO),carbon dioxide(Co2)oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in a diesel engine by varying number of injectors nozzle holes as 2 and 3 hole.Increasing the number of nozzle holes improves the performance of diesel engine fueled with MOME in terms of increased BTE, reduced emissions like HC,CO,CO2.However, NOx emission increases with increased number of holes. Mitigation of SSR in Series Compensated Power System Using a FACTS based Subsynchronous Damping Controller
- Mr.Gyan prakash Rai,Sneha Tibude,Radha Raman shaha 10.29126/23951303/IJET-V4I3P67
Abstract
Due to the continuous increase in the demand of electricity, we are left with two options; either to increase the installed generating capacity in proportion with the rise in demand or to use some other methods along with former; keeping the stability intact. In this regard series capacitive compensation comes at our rescue. Series capacitive compensation virtually reduces the length of transmission line by minimizing the line inductive reactance and enhances the power transmission capacity. However, in 1971 it was learned in one of the USAs Mohave thermal power plant that series capacitors can create an adverse interaction between the series compensated electrical system and the spring-mass mechanical system of the turbine-generators. This effect is called sub synchronous resonance (SSR). Due to this torsional oscillation, the rotor shaft faces severe fatigue and can be damaged if a proper solution is not adopted to mitigate SSR. There are many methods proposed in literature for SSR mitigation. However this paper proposes that SSR can be mitigated with a proper gating pulse to TCSC. A Subsynchronous damping controller(SSDC) is proposed to be modeled for detecting SSR phenomena. SSDC observes this SSR phenomenon and directs an appropriate signal to the TCSC automatically. Thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) which improves transmission line capability, can also be used in damping out Sub synchronous resonance (SSR) efficiently. All results are validated using simulations in MATLAB.
