Ant Colony Optimization for Job Shop Scheduling Problem Using Priority Rules
- B.Sasikala , Dr.V.P. Eswaramurthy
Abstract
Man had admired crystals for long, as he had appreciated their beauty. The gems and crystals delivered by mother earth have always attracted our mankind, and the belief in the virtues of gems and some minerals dates back to at least two thousand years. The use of gems for ornamental purposes appears to be in practice since the birth of humankind. Today, crystals are the pillars of modern technology. Without crystals, there would be no electronics industry, no photonics industry, no fibre-optic communications, very little modern optical equipment and some very important gaps in conventional production engineering. In the past few decades, there has been a growing interest in crystal growth process, particularly in view of the increasing demand of materials for technological applications (Laudise 1975; Brice1986; Nalwa and Miyata 1996).The significance of crystal growth to electrical engineering, chemistry and physics is illustrated in Figure 1.1. Modern technology requires physicists, chemists, electrical engineers, metallurgists and crystal growers to assist each other at many levels. Crystal growth is a vital and fundamental part of materials science and engineering, since crystals of suitable size and perfection are required for fundamental data acquisition and for practical devices such as detectors, integrated circuits and for other applications. Fractal Dimension and Higher Order Statistics Based Features for Classification of Different Epileptic States
- Kaushik Das , Asif Ahmed
Abstract
Here we have presented a method for the classification of different types of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals in the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) domain. Here we have used a EEG dataset which is available online, in the dataset out of five subsets we have considered three subsets forming normal, interictal and ictal states. Here we have used some of the statistical moments like variance, skewness and kurtosis and we have also used fractal dimension and sample entropy on the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) which are obtained by doing EMD on the main EEG signals. All the obtained features are feed to a support vector machine for classification of normal and ictal states as well as interictal and ictal states. The mentioned method gives a classification accuracy of 100% in almost all the cases for classification of these states. Gaussian Mixture Model Based Contrast Enhancement with the Reversible Data Hiding (RDH) Algorithm
- K. Appasamy, A. Bathsheba Parimala, B. Jefferson
Abstract
In this paper, a reversible data hiding (RDH) algorithm with contrast enhancement is proposed for images. Here, to improve the image quality we need a contrast enhancement; the proposed algorithm for contrast enhancement is called Gaussian Mixture Model based Contrast Enhancement (GMMCE), which enhances the contrast of a image to improve its visual quality. It brings into play the Gaussian mixture modeling of histograms to model the content of the images. From the histogram, the highest two bins are selected for data embedding hence histogram equalization can be performed by repeating the process. The side data is inserted alongside the message bits into the host image with the goal that the original image is totally recoverable. Based on this, that each homogeneous area in natural images has a Gaussian-shaped histogram, it decomposes the narrow histogram of low contrast images into a set of scaled and shifted Gaussians. The individual histograms are then stretched by increasing their variance parameters, and are diffused on the entire histogram by scattering their mean parameters, to build a broad version of the histogram. Contrasted with the current histogram-based strategies, the experimental results demonstrates that the nature of GMMCE improved pictures are for the most part steady and beat other benchmark techniques. Dynamic MR Visualization and Detection of Upper Airway Obstruction during Sleep Using Region-Growing Segmentation
- B. Jefferson, K. Appasamy, A. Bathsheba Parimala,
Abstract
Obstructive Sleep Apnea(OSA) syndrome is a common breathing disorder in which the airflow pauses during sleep due to physical collapse of pharyngeal airway. Recently, dynamic MRI of the upper airway has been demonstrated during natural sleep, with sufficient fourth dimensional resolution not tending to spread the study patterns of airway obstruction in adults with OSA. In this project, we use open source multi-seeded region growing segmentation approach, where the operator selects a region of interest that includes the pharyngeal airway, by placing three seeds in the patent airway, and determines a threshold for the first frame in order to determine the collapsed tissues which blocks the airway path. This simple automated segmentation technique enhances the process of dynamic MRI studies of the pharyngeal airway and enables diagonising of obstructive events with the collapse plot. Region growing results well in Cosine Coefficients compared with manual segmentation of 1. It automatically detect 90% of collapse events. This approach leads to segment the airway path efficiently. It uses long MRI scans in order to diagnosis the collapsed events with brief, accurate details in a short span of time. Data Caching and Prefetching Using Collaborative Caching and Prefetching Algorithm in Wireless ADHOC Networks
- A. Bathsheba Parimala, B. Jefferson, K. Appasamy
Abstract
Prefetching the information is a prominent strategy that enhances information availability in wired or remote systems. However, in wireless ad hoc networks, improvement in access latency and cache hit ratio may diminish because of the mobility and limited cache space of hosts. The proposed scheme uses a Collaborative Caching with Data Prefetching (CCDP) which is a method that prefetches the image based on association among data items. The scheme prefetches highly related data items and considers confidence of association rules. Whenever a node issues a request, the cache request processing module first logs this request into record and checks whether the desired data item is available in local cache of that node or in any of the node in the cluster. If it is a cache hit, the cache manager still needs to validate the consistency of the cached item with the copy at the original server. To validate the cached item, the cache manager checks the validation of data item from its TTL value. If the data item is verified as being upto date, it is returned to the node immediately. If it is a cache hit, but the value is obsolete, the cache manager sends an uplink requests to the server and waits for the data broadcast. When the requested data item appears, the cache manager returns it to the requester and retains a copy in the cache. The simulations are done using both MATLAB and Network Simulator 2 tool and the performance metrics like throughput, packet loss and delay will be compared with previous schemes. Design Optimization of Planar Mechanisms
- Dr. Kailash Chaudhary
Abstract
This paper presents an optimization technique to dynamically balance the planar five-bar mechanisms in which the shaking force and shaking moment are minimized using the genetic algorithm (GA). A dynamically equivalent system of point-masses that represents each rigid link of a mechanism is developed to represent link’s inertial properties. The shaking force and shaking moment are then expressed in terms of the point-mass parameters which are taken as the design variables. These design variables are brought into the optimization scheme to reduce the shaking force and shaking moment. This formulates the objective function which optimizes the mass distribution of each link. The balancing problem is formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem and multiple optimal solutions are created as a Pareto front by using the genetic algorithm. The masses and inertias of the optimized links are computed from the optimized design variables. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is shown by applying it to a problem of five-bar planar mechanism available in the literature. Abstract
Edges characterize boundaries and are a problem of fundamental importance in image processing. Edge detection of images reduces the amount of data and filters unwanted information and preserves important structural properties of images. Edge detection is a process of locating boundaries of objects or textures present n an image. Data of edge detection is very large, so the speed of image processing is a very difficult problem. There are many techniques used for the purpose of edge detection depending upon the requirement of various applications. This paper provides an extensive review of various research work and methodologies which are applied in the field of edge detection.
